Sorry business

I actually snuck this photo in I would be in big trouble I think if they knew I took it. I was actually seeing a patient to give medicine, which being a nurse I'm allowed into sorry camp. As I was leaving I took a quick photo, the women take their shirts off and paint themselves white, so do the men but they are in a separate camp

Unfortunately today I got to see all the sorry camps used. I didn't realise there were actually 4 in the community. The whole community is in mourning today as a young man was murdered by his wife early this morning they call it jealousing here (we call it cheating). It happened not far from Katherine but many of his relatives are in Lajamanu.
The women have taken their tops off and painted themselves and painted their faces and everyone sits and chants and cries. It's very sad not something I want to be a part of again.
Unfortunately I'm on call tonight so hopefully no-one will carry out sorry business and injure themselves.
They are talking of payback...in Aboriginal Culture if someone hurts someone often the family of the person hurt will payback the person who caused the injury unfortunately in this case I don't think they realise the woman will probably be in custody and go to gaol. all very, very sad.
